Pleistocene Epoch 20 Million Years old.

Mammuthus Columbi, commonly known as the Columbian mammoth, was an extinct species of mammoth that roamed North America during the Pleistocene epoch. It was one of the largest members of the elephant family, with adult males reaching up to 4 meters (13 feet) at the shoulder and weighing as much as 12 metric tons (13 short tons). The species is believed to have gone extinct around 11,000 years ago, likely due to a combination of climate change and hunting by early humans.

The Columbian mammoth possessed long, curved tusks that could extend up to 4 meters (13 feet). These impressive tusks were used for defense, foraging, and battling other males during the mating season. Its massive size and thick fur helped it survive in a range of climates and allowed it to reach high branches, feeding on vegetation inaccessible to most other herbivores.

Fossil evidence of Mammuthus columbi has been discovered throughout North America, from Alaska down to Mexico, and even into parts of Central and South America. The species is thought to have evolved from the smaller Jefferson’s mammoth (Mammuthus jeffersonii) around 1 million years ago, representing one of the most iconic examples of megafauna in the Americas.
