Quartz Crystal, also known simply as quartz, is a mineral made of silicon and oxygen atoms arranged in a continuous framework of SiO4 silicon–oxygen tetrahedra, with each oxygen shared between two tetrahedra, resulting in an overall chemical formula of SiO2. Quartz is the second most common mineral in Earth’s continental crust, after feldspar. It appears in various forms and colors, including clear rock crystal, purple amethyst, yellow citrine, and pink rose quartz. Quartz crystals have a hexagonal crystal structure and are valued for their piezoelectric properties, which enable them to produce an electric charge when subjected to mechanical stress.
