Otodus sharks were even larger than today’s biggest carnivorous fish, growing up to 1.5 times the size of the largest recorded great white shark. Yet, sheer size did not make Otodus the undisputed apex predator of its seas. It shared the oceans with other formidable hunters, including Basilosaurus, an 18-meter predatory whale resembling an ancient mosasaur. Still, Otodus was a dominant force, fully capable of holding its ground against most marine rivals.
