Otodus sharks were larger than any carnivorous fish alive today, reaching up to 1.5 times the size of the largest recorded great white shark. However, their massive size didn’t make them the sole apex predator of ancient seas. They shared the oceans with other powerful hunters like Basilosaurus, an 18-meter-long predatory whale resembling a mosasaur. Even so, Otodus was a formidable predator, able to stand its ground against most marine rivals.
