Size: 8 to 9 meters long.
Triceratops, a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaurs, emerged during the Late Cretaceous period approximately 68 million years ago, with an estimated mass of 5 to 9 metric tons. These sizeable quadrupedal ceratopsians are characterized by a robust skull featuring a short cranial frill and three distinct horns: two large supraorbital horns above the eyes and a smaller nasal horn. The expanded frill was edged with numerous small osteoderms. Triceratops inhabited the same ecosystems as Tyrannosaurus rex, which likely preyed upon it.
