Otodus sharks were among the largest carnivorous fish to ever live, reaching sizes 1.5 times bigger than the largest great white shark recorded today. However, their massive size didn’t make them the only apex predator of their era. They shared the seas with formidable rivals like Basilosaurus, an 18-meter-long predatory whale that more closely resembled an ancient mosasaur. Even so, Otodus was a powerful predator, capable of holding its ground against nearly all other marine giants.
