Ghost (Phantom) Quartz forms when a layer of chlorite is deposited during the early stages of a clear quartz crystal’s growth. As the crystal continues to develop above the inclusion, a unique effect appears: a colored form emerges within the clear quartz above the chlorite layer. Each specimen is one-of-a-kind, so take time to view multiple images to appreciate its individuality. Quartz has a hardness of 7, while the chlorite layer has a hardness of 2–2.5. This specimen is lab-grown.
Quartz is the most recognized type of crystal. When most people think of crystals, they often picture quartz, though there are many different types. Quartz can range from icy clear to having inclusions, veils, bubbles, or various colors. Its visual clarity is generally not important to its energetic properties or its ability to amplify subtle energies.
