Otodus sharks were considerably larger than any carnivorous fish found in today’s oceans, reaching sizes about one and a half times that of the largest great white shark ever recorded. However, their impressive size did not automatically make them the top predators, as they coexisted with other dominant creatures like Basilosaurus, an eighteen-meter-long predatory whale resembling an ancient mosasaur. Despite this, Otodus sharks were strong contenders capable of defending their position against most other marine predators.
