This is a genuine fossil.

Late Cretaceous through to the Eocene, 100 million to 50 million years ago

Enchodus, often called the Saber-toothed herring, is actually more closely related to salmon. Its teeth are well-suited for catching small, slippery creatures like fish and squid. These teeth are set in a wide-opening mouth, which helps it capture prey effectively. However, the teeth were not adapted to tear off small pieces of flesh. Instead, after spearing its prey, Enchodus likely used quick, repeated jaw movements to move the prey into position for swallowing. This behavior highlights the specialized feeding strategy of this Cretaceous fish.

Please be aware of the nature of fossils:

Being buried under the ground for millions of years under tons of pressure tends to be rough. No fossil comes out of the ground whole and perfect. Most fossils have undergone some restoration, while others are altered by man simply to enhance their presentation in different ways. The workers in Morocco do a very professional job of unearthing and preserving these natural treasures; however, commonly, natural cracks are visible on the surface. These are part of the natural beauty of the fossil and are not considered defects.
