Fulgurite is a type of natural glass formed when lightning strikes sandy soil or sand dunes, creating a fascinating geological phenomenon. The extreme heat produced by the lightning bolt fuses sand grains, forming hollow tubes or branching structures known as fulgurites. Also referred to as “petrified lightning,” “fossilized lightning,” or “lightning rock,” these formations capture the immense energy of a lightning strike frozen in time.

Its extensive sandy plains, coupled with frequent lightning storms, provide the perfect conditions for these extraordinary geological formations to arise.
