Erythrite, often referred to as Red Cobalt or Cobalt Bloom, is a hydrated cobalt arsenate mineral distinguished by its formation in crusts, aggregates, and slender prismatic crystals. Belonging to the Vivianite group, it frequently appears in association with other cobalt minerals and natural silver deposits. Renowned primarily for its striking crimson coloration, erythrite also occurs in shades of purple, pink, peach, and gray. Lighter hues are typically indicative of increased nickel content. This mineral was first identified in 1832 in Saxton, Germany, by François Sulpice Beaudant, who named it after the Greek term “Erythros,” meaning “red,” reflecting the hue of the initial specimen.
