Name: Carcharodontosaurus

Type: Carnivore

Size: 12 meters in length.

Carcharodontosaurus was one of the most imposing predators of the Late Cretaceous period, roaming the ancient floodplains and forests of Northern Africa during the Cenomanian stage. As a member of the carcharodontosaurid lineage, it ranked among the largest carnivorous dinosaurs ever known, rivaling Tyrannotitan and Sauroniops, and only slightly smaller than the immense Giganotosaurus. With a body length reaching nearly 12 meters, a hip height of about 3.5 meters, and an estimated weight approaching 7 tonnes, Carcharodontosaurus dominated its environment through sheer size and strength.

Its powerful forelimbs, though shorter than its massive torso, were longer and more heavily built than those of Tyrannosaurus rex, each ending in three curved claws capable of gripping prey. The dinosaur’s enormous skull housed over 60 elongated, razor-edged teeth, some measuring close to 20 centimeters long, forming a cutting apparatus well suited for tearing flesh. These blade-like teeth allowed Carcharodontosaurus to hunt and dismember large herbivorous dinosaurs, including juvenile sauropods and ornithopods.

As a true apex predator, Carcharodontosaurus stood at the pinnacle of the prehistoric food web, embodying the power and ferocity of Africa’s Cretaceous-age predators.
