Brachylophosaurus was a medium-sized dinosaur belonging to the hadrosaurid family, found in the Judith River Formation of Montana and the Oldman Formation in Alberta, dating back approximately 76.5 million years. Adults measured at least 9 meters long and weighed around 7 metric tons. This dinosaur is recognized by a distinctive flat, paddle-shaped bony crest atop its skull. It had notably long forelimbs and a broader upper jaw beak compared to other hadrosaurs of its time. Its cheeks helped retain plant material in the mouth, and its specialized teeth enabled efficient chewing—a rare adaptation among reptiles but typical of ornithischian dinosaurs like Brachylophosaurus.
