The colossal Otodus shark outclassed every carnivorous fish alive today, reaching sizes up to 1.5 times larger than the biggest great white shark on record. Yet, sheer size didn’t make it the undisputed ruler of the seas. Otodus shared its waters with other fearsome predators, including Basilosaurus, an 18-meter predatory whale that resembled an ancient mosasaur. Even so, Otodus was a dominant hunter, fully capable of holding its own against nearly any rival of its time.
