Hadrosaurus was a type of hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived in North America about 80 to 78 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. These dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and mainly walked on all four legs, with their back legs supporting most of their weight. They could also stand up on their hind legs to reach taller plants and run away from predators using only their back legs. Their teeth were very complex, with as many as 1,400 teeth. Their front legs were not as strong as the back legs, but were long enough to help with standing and moving. Hadrosaurus looked similar to Kritosaurus, which lived nearby at the same time, and later hadrosaurids like Edmontosaurus.
