Suchomimus is a large theropod dinosaur genus that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 112 to 93.5 million years ago. It is part of the Spinosauridae family, which also includes dinosaurs like Spinosaurus and Baryonyx. This dinosaur was first found in the Republic of Niger. Its most notable characteristic is a long, narrow snout lined with many sharp teeth. These conical, slightly curved teeth were designed to catch and hold slippery prey, suggesting that Suchomimus primarily fed on fish.
The teeth of Suchomimus have been extensively studied by paleontologists to understand its feeding habits and ecology. The tooth morphology provides valuable insights into the diet and lifestyle of this dinosaur. The teeth are typically around 10 centimeters (4 inches) long and are serrated along the edges, which would have aided in gripping slippery prey.
