Lambeosaurus is a genus of duck-billed hadrosaurid dinosaurs that lived around 75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous in North America. It is recognized for the distinctive hatchet-shaped hollow crest on its skull, which was likely used for defense or as a weapon. This dinosaur had a long tail reinforced by ossified tendons to prevent sagging, and strong, sturdy front and hind legs. As a herbivore, Lambeosaurus fed on various plants such as pine needles, conifers, ginkgoes, seeds, cycads, twigs, and magnolia leaves. Notably, the shape of the crest varied between its two main species.
