Suchomimus is a genus of large theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 112 to 93.5 million years ago. It belongs to the family Spinosauridae, which includes other well-known dinosaurs such as Spinosaurus and Baryonyx. Suchomimus was first discovered in the Republic of Niger.
Suchomimus is easily recognized by its long, narrow snout filled with many sharp teeth designed to catch and hold slippery prey. This suggests it mainly ate fish, making it a piscivorous dinosaur. Its teeth are cone-shaped and slightly curved backward, features that have been closely studied by paleontologists to better understand its eating habits and environment. Measuring about 10 centimeters (4 inches) long, these teeth have serrated edges to help grip slippery food, offering important clues about the way Suchomimus lived and thrived.
