Pleistocene Age 400,000 Years old.

This remarkable Potamon Sp. fossil freshwater crab is further distinguished by its stunningly vivid 3D preservation. It is embedded in a white travertine matrix and coated in a film of calcium carbonate. Travertine is a variety of limestone that formed in mineral springs over the past 400,000 years in the Denizli Basin, located in Southwest Turkey. The fossil was discovered during the quarrying of travertine for use as a construction material.
