Suchomimus was a large theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, about 112 to 93.5 million years ago. It belongs to the Spinosauridae family, which includes well-known dinosaurs like Spinosaurus and Baryonyx. Discovered in the Republic of Niger, Suchomimus is notable for its elongated, narrow snout filled with many sharp teeth. These conical and slightly backward-curving teeth were specially adapted to catch and hold slippery prey, suggesting a diet primarily consisting of fish. Paleontologists study the shape and structure of these serrated teeth—typically around 10 centimeters (4 inches) long—to gain important insights into the dinosaur’s feeding behaviors and ecological role.
