Megaloolithus refers to fossilized eggs believed to have been laid by a medium-sized titanosaur that lived in what is now Western Europe near the end of the Cretaceous Period. These eggs are typically spherical and measure about thirty centimeters in diameter. Differences observed among some specimens have led scientists to propose two explanations: either the eggs do not all belong to the same species, or the dinosaur that laid them experienced a dietary deficiency, resulting in reduced calcium and other nutrients available for eggshell production.
