Abelisauridae, or "Abel's lizards," represent a fierce family of ceratosaurian theropods that dominated the Cretaceous period, famously known as the Kem Kem Abelisaur. The Abelisaurus genus, first named by Argentine paleontologists in 1985, led this tribe of relentless carnivores. These predators ruled the southern continents like South America and Africa. Fossil evidence from Morocco reveals Abelisaurus as a robust, medium to large theropod, tipping the scales at around 2,000 kg. These primal hunters shared their domain with other colossal beasts like Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus, marking an age of supreme predators.
