Megaloolithus refers to fossilized eggs believed to have been laid by a medium-sized titanosaur that lived in what is now Western Europe near the end of the Cretaceous period. These eggs are roughly spherical and measure about thirty centimeters across. Differences in their appearance have led scientists to suggest that the eggs may not all belong to the same species, or that the dinosaur laying them may have experienced a dietary deficiency, resulting in reduced calcium and other nutrients necessary for proper eggshell formation.
