The Ankylosaurus stands as one of the most impressive armored dinosaurs, reaching about 30 feet in length, 6 feet in width, and 4 feet in height, weighing close to four tons. Its tough body was shielded by large, oval plates seamlessly fused into its leathery skin, covering everything except its vulnerable belly. Featuring two rows of imposing spikes, prominent horns atop its head, and a powerful clubbed tail with spikes, this dinosaur was built to withstand attacks from fierce predators like T. rex, Deinonychus, and Tarbosaurus. Its only weakness was its unprotected underbelly, making its armor an extraordinary defense that ensured its survival.
These dinosaurs were herbivores, meaning they fed on plants and trees. Since its teeth were insufficient to crush plant matter, it more than likely used its teeth to strip leaves from branches. They would then use fermentation to break down this plant material in their guts.
