Name: Camarasaurus

Diet: Herbivore

Size: 18 meters in length

Camarasaurus was a group of dinosaurs that lived during the Late Jurassic Period about 145 million to 155 million years ago. They grew to a length of about 18 meters and were somewhat smaller than other sauropods of the time such as diplodocids and brachiosaurs. This large, 25-ton plant-eater was strong and massive, with powerful legs, a strong neck and tail, and a rounded head. They were as large as chisels, with sharp points that chopped the plants they ate. Allosaurus was its fiercest enemy, but an adult Camarasaurus was so much larger that it was seldom attacked. They were further
distinguished by their shorter necks and tails, shorter, snubnosed skulls, and large spoon-shaped teeth. The nostrils were positioned in front of the eyes—not above the eyes as in brachiosaurs, or at the tip of the snout as in the diplodocids.
