Cretaceous Age 125 Million Years ago.

Name: Tenontosaurus

Type: Herbivore

Size: 6-8 Meters long

Tenontosaurus is a genus of medium- to large-sized ornithopod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period about 110 million years ago and weighed about 1000 to 2000 kilograms. The most striking feature of Tenontosaurus is the tail which actually takes up more than half the total body length and was stiffened by "ossified tendons" that turned into bones. It walked and ran mainly on its hind legs and had very strong front legs with short, wide front feet and with a long and flexible neck. It had no teeth in front of its mouth and had a horny beak for biting plants but it had rows of strong, well-fitting teeth that crushed even the toughest plants such as cycads, ferns, conifers and flowering plants. They usually live in quite warm and seasonal climate with some rain.
