Dakota Raptor is a genus of large dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period. The remains have been found in the Maastrichtian stage of the Hell Creek Formation, dated to the very end of the Mesozoic era. It weighs about 220 to 350 Kilograms. Proportions of the leg show that the lower leg bones of the tibia and fibula were longer than the femur which makes up the upper leg and lengthens the stride of the leg and increases the ability to speed and run fast. The vertebrae of the back are highly pneumatised, and filled with trabecular bone that shows many air spaces. Overall, the hindlimb is built lightly and with long elements, contrary to the robust, stocky hind limbs.
