Jurassic Age 161 - 145 million years old.
Name: Stegosaurus

Size: 6.5 to 9 meters long
Stegosaurus was one of the various plated dinosaurs that lived during the Late Jurassic Period around 150 million years ago and is recognizable by its spiked tail and series of large triangular bony plates along the back. The skull and brain were very small for such a large animal. The forelimbs were considerably shorter than the hind limbs, giving the back its distinctively arched appearance. They had short and broad feet. Stegosaurus had two parallel rows of plates, either staggered or paired, and this afforded protection to the animal’s backbone and spinal cord, which consisted of between 17 and 22 separate plates and flat spines. The largest plates were around 60cm tall and 60cm wide. In addition to back plates, these massive plant eaters had long spikes at the end of their tails.
