Spaniodon blondelii fish
Spaniodon blondelii fish, discovered in Haqel, Lebanon.
Middle Cretaceous Period, 95 million years old.
The majority of the Spaniodon fish discovered in Lebanon are of the more common elongatus species. So this is even more special. The fish was a predator, with rows of sharp teeth. It became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous and is thought to be related to the modern day marine fish Elops.
